Iran, India FMs Hold Phone Talks on Regional Developments
WANA (Mar 13) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation with India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to discuss recent regional and international developments.
During the call, Araghchi briefed his Indian counterpart on what he described as the latest situation following attacks and actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as their potential implications for regional and global stability and security. He emphasized the Iranian government’s position that the country reserves the right to exercise self-defense in response to such actions.
Araghchi also stressed the need for international and regional organizations to condemn what he described as military aggression against Iran.
Referring to the role of BRICS, he said the grouping could play an important role at the current juncture in strengthening multilateral cooperation and supporting regional and global stability.
Jaishankar, for his part, expressed India’s readiness to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation within regional and international forums.
He also highlighted the importance of finding pathways to strengthen lasting stability and security in the region, describing it as a shared priority for the international community.
