Iran, Indonesia Urge End to Gaza Atrocities at BRICS Meeting
WANA (May 28) – During an informal high-level BRICS meeting held Wednesday morning in Moscow, representatives from Iran and Indonesia called for an end to what they described as the inhumane crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza.
The meeting was convened on the sidelines of the Moscow Security Conference and brought together senior officials from BRICS member and partner countries. Iran was represented by Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, along with the Iranian ambassador to Russia and other members of the Iranian delegation.
The discussions among BRICS officials focused on key global issues, including multilateral cooperation, planning for joint investments, the development of communication networks, and the exchange of knowledge in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. Regional and global stability were also high on the agenda.
Representatives from Iran and Indonesia—both influential Islamic nations—used the opportunity to strongly denounce Israel’s actions in Gaza, urging the international community to put an end to the violence.
Addressing fellow BRICS members, Ahmadian emphasized the significance of the gathering, stating, “Holding such an important meeting on the sidelines of the Moscow Security Conference reflects the will of independent nations to establish security through multilateral cooperation and the participation of people.”
He added, “Ending the Zionist crimes in Gaza is a shared demand of all freedom-seeking nations. We cannot remain silent in the face of such atrocities.”
