Iran Introduced a Nano-Enabled Rapid FOB Diagnostic Kit
WANA (Dec 10) – An Iranian knowledge-based company has unveiled a rapid Fecal Occult Blood (FOB) test kit that uses nanotechnology to detect hidden blood in stool samples—an early indicator of gastrointestinal disorders and colorectal cancer.
Occult blood is invisible to the naked eye and typically requires specialized testing. The new nano-enabled kit offers high accuracy, fast results, and simple, noninvasive sample collection, making it suitable for use in clinics and laboratories and effective for large-scale population screening.
Hidden blood in stool may signal benign or malignant gastrointestinal tumors, ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease, or other intestinal abnormalities. By detecting these biomarkers with enhanced sensitivity, the kit provides clinicians with valuable information for early diagnosis and timely treatment.
The company, already active in producing nano-based rapid test kits—such as COVID-19, Troponin I, and pregnancy tests—adds the FOB kit as a complementary product in its diagnostic portfolio. Nanotechnology improves detection sensitivity, reduces testing errors, and enhances product stability and transport.
Experts emphasize that early detection of occult blood is a critical step in preventing the progression of colorectal cancer. The FOB kit enables regular and accessible screening, especially for individuals over 40 or those with a family history of gastrointestinal disease.
According to Iran’s Nano and Micro Headquarters, the product can be integrated with the company’s other nano-enabled kits to create a comprehensive health-monitoring package. Nanotechnology not only boosts diagnostic accuracy and speed but also enables simultaneous detection of multiple biomarkers, supporting multi-dimensional disease assessment.
Overall, the company’s rapid FOB diagnostic kit represents a practical application of nanotechnology in medicine, offering improved disease detection, contributing to enhanced healthcare quality, and reducing the burden of gastrointestinal disorders on the healthcare system.
