Iran, Iraq FMs Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Developments
WANA (Feb 15) – Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a telephone conversation Saturday evening with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, as part of his ongoing consultations with foreign ministers of regional countries.
During the call, the two sides reviewed the current state of Iran–Iraq relations and underscored the importance of continuing consultations at various levels to further expand cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.
The ministers also exchanged views on the latest regional developments.
Araghchi expressed appreciation for the commitment of regional and neighboring countries, including Iraq, to promoting regional peace and stability. He also briefed Hussein on recent developments related to the indirect talks between Iran and the United States.
For his part, the Iraqi foreign minister thanked Araghchi for the explanations provided and reaffirmed Iraq’s support for the ongoing diplomatic process between Tehran and Washington. He expressed hope that the talks would yield positive results for Iran and contribute to regional peace and stability.
