Iran Issues Travel Warning for Nepal Amid Unrest
WANA (Sep 09) – The Iranian Embassy in India has advised all Iranian nationals to avoid traveling to Nepal and to maintain contact with Iran’s embassies in New Delhi and Kathmandu.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy warned: “Given the current situation and the outbreak of unrest in Nepal, all Iranian citizens are strongly advised to refrain from any travel to that country.” The embassy also urged Iranians already in Nepal to remain in close communication with the consular section of the embassy in New Delhi and with Iran’s consular representative in Kathmandu.
The warning comes as widespread protests by Nepali youth against corruption and the government’s recent decision to block social media have escalated, leaving 19 people dead and around 400 injured. On Tuesday, Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli resigned from his post amid the crisis.
