Iran Launches Ninth Phase of “Saegheh” Operation
WANA (Jul 16) – The Iranian Army has announced the launch of the ninth phase of its “Saegheh” operation, claiming it carried out a drone strike on the U.S. Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan.
According to an official statement, the operation was conducted in response to recent attacks that, according to the Iranian military, resulted in the deaths of seven Army personnel at the Bampur military base in Iranshahr. The statement said Iranian loitering drones targeted the base’s communications systems, a fixed radar site, and fuel storage facilities.
The Iranian Army described Al-Azraq Air Base as one of the United States’ key strategic and command centers in West Asia, adding that the installation hosts missile defense systems.
The statement also condemned what it described as an attack on Army personnel accommodations in Iranshahr, attributing the incident to its adversaries. It further emphasized that Iranian forces would continue their mission to defend the country’s security and pursue accountability for those killed.
