Iran Leader’s Message for Persian Language Day
WANA (May 15) – The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has released a message on the occasion of May 15, the day for Safeguarding the Persian Language and commemorating Hakim Abul-Qasim Ferdowsi.
The full text of the message is as follows:
“In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Persian language, beyond being a tool for speech and writing, constitutes the mold of cognition, the bond of thought, and the identity borders of Iranians.
Persian language and literature are among the greatest capacities for promoting the rich Islamic-Iranian culture and civilization on a global scale; the recommendation of our wise and martyred Leader—may his noble station be elevated—to empower the Persian language serves as a guiding light for the authority of the “Iranian-Islamic Civilization.”
The dear nation of Iran, in the Third Sacred Defense, just as in the previous two imposed wars, proved that the mythical stories of Ferdowsi have been the reality of their lives and heroic character.
The human-building, valiant, and Quranic concepts of the Shahnameh harmonize and unite all Iranian ethnicities and strata in preserving their identity, authenticity, and independence, and in the struggle against the aggressive “Zahhak-like” entities.
This epic of presence, defense, and victory places a great duty upon the people of culture, literature, and art to rise like Ferdowsi and mark the “mission of the artists” in the continuation of the “mission of the people”; to blend thought, pen, and language with art, and to make the narrative of the nation’s massive uprising eternal in history.
On the other hand, the courageous resistance and proud victory against the invasion of the demon-natured and the devils of the world have made the nation more prepared to guard its civilizational independence and confront the American linguistic, cultural, and lifestyle invasion.
With the initiative and innovation of cultural activists aimed at providing linguistic and discoursal defense and the flourishing of children, adolescents, and youth, the nation shall traverse the remaining stages until the final victory with greater steadfastness, with the help of Allah the Almighty.
