WANA (Mar 26) – Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a telephone conversation to discuss recent regional and international developments following military tensions involving the United States and Israel.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Islamic countries should not allow adversaries to exploit the situation to sow division or escalate conflict in the region. He described Iran’s targeting of U.S. military bases and facilities in the region as a “natural response” to what he referred to as the origins of aggression against Iran.

The Iranian president also expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s stance in condemning unlawful and inhumane actions against Iran.

He reiterated that Iran has never sought to acquire nuclear weapons, stating that multiple reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency have confirmed this position.

Pezeshkian added that allegations regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions are used as a pretext to justify actions against the country.

He stressed that Iran seeks a complete end to the conflict and aims to restore peace and stability in the region, expressing hope that cooperation among Muslim nations could prevent further escalation.

During the call, Anwar Ibrahim conveyed condolences over the deaths of senior Iranian figures and civilians in recent military developments, expressing solidarity with the Iranian government and people.

He highlighted Malaysia’s firm position in condemning any violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Malaysian prime minister also referenced a parliamentary resolution condemning the attacks and reaffirmed his country’s support for diplomatic efforts among Islamic nations to reduce tensions and ensure regional stability.
