WANA (Mar 22) – The city of Arad in southern Israel was struck by a missile attack carried out by Iran, which, according to reports, was conducted with a single missile yet caused extensive damage. Local sources reported heavy casualties within a confined area, with around 1,000 people said to have been killed or injured. The strike reportedly destroyed an entire residential neighborhood, while rescue operations are still ongoing.

Initial assessments describe the attack as a sign of Iran entering a new phase in the conflict. According to these analyses, Tehran has launched a fresh wave of missile and drone operations targeting sites in Israel, characterized by heavy strikes on sensitive targets with minimal interference from missile defense systems.

At the same time, reports have emerged of Iranian strikes on facilities linked to Israel’s nuclear program in Dimona, where several advanced and high-value laboratories are said to have been damaged or destroyed. Unofficial sources have compared the level of these facilities to that of leading research institutions.

Within this context, the strike on Arad is being interpreted as a renewed test of Iran’s “precision single-shot” strategy against critical targets—an approach that some observers say has proven operationally effective. Analysts also point to noticeable changes in Iran’s firing patterns and tactics, suggesting an evolution in operational strategy and increased sophistication in its methods of attack.
