Iran Never Initiated War, Focused on Negotiation and Cooperation
WANA (Sep 18) – Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, emphasized that Iran has proven it has never initiated war and considers diplomacy and negotiation the best means to resolve conflicts.
Mousavi made the remarks during a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev, noting that “given the severe Western sanctions on both Iran and Russia, there are significant opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries.”
He also praised Russia’s positions at the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding Israeli attacks on Iran, describing them as “strong and firm.”
Mousavi reiterated that while Iran prefers diplomacy, its armed forces responded decisively and powerfully to the United States and Israel when diplomacy was betrayed and an imposed war was launched against Iran.
In the same meeting, Tsivilev expressed condolences for the loss of Iranian commanders and scientists in the Israeli attacks. He told Mousavi that he fully supports proposals to strengthen and expand commissions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The Russian energy minister added that economic and defense cooperation between Iran and Russia must be elevated to the highest possible level.
Prior to this meeting, the Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev met with Iran’s President, Pezeshkian.
