WANA (Nov 03) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has expressed its readiness to assist Afghanistan in the aftermath of a powerful earthquake that struck the northern region of the country.

 

Following the strong tremor in Kholm, Balkh province, Esmaeil Beqaee, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, extended Iran’s condolences to the people of Afghanistan, especially the families of those who lost their lives, and prayed for the recovery and well-being of the injured.

 

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also confirmed Iran’s willingness to provide any necessary support to Afghanistan in the ongoing rescue and relief operations. Meanwhile, Iran’s embassy in Kabul issued a statement noting that the earthquake, centered in Samangan province, caused significant human and material losses, bringing deep sorrow to the Iranian mission.

 

The embassy offered prayers for the deceased and wished a swift recovery for the injured, while expressing solidarity with the affected families. “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as always, stands by the people of Afghanistan during difficult times. Following consultations with Afghan authorities and a full assessment of the situation and local needs, necessary assistance will be provided,” the embassy stated.

 

The earthquake, measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, struck northern Afghanistan early this morning. Initial reports indicate dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries, with emergency teams dispatched to assist victims and carry out rescue operations.
