In his message, President Pezeshkian expressed the sincere sympathy of the Iranian government and nation toward their “friendly and brotherly neighbor” and emphasized Iran’s readiness to provide humanitarian aid and relief assistance to help alleviate the suffering of those affected. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
According to Pakistani media, heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding and landslides across parts of Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, leaving more than 320 people dead in the past 48 hours.
Dozens have been injured and hundreds displaced, with the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa among the hardest hit. Officials have described the situation as “unprecedented,” with millions impacted by torrential rains.
The crisis deepened after a rescue helicopter crashed in the flood-hit Bajaur district, killing two pilots and three crew members. In response, authorities declared a day of mourning in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister has called an emergency meeting to address the worsening disaster, while the country’s army has been placed on high alert to assist in relief operations.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, also conveyed condolences on behalf of Tehran, stressing that the Islamic Republic is fully prepared to provide any assistance required. “In these difficult times, our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in Pakistan,” he said.
