WANA (Sep 04) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of Afghanistan, to discuss continued Iranian assistance for victims of the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.

 

During the conversation, Araghchi expressed Iran’s condolences and solidarity with the families of those killed, wishing a swift recovery for the injured.

 

He noted that Iran has already sent around 200 tons of humanitarian aid and reaffirmed Tehran’s readiness to provide further assistance to support rescue and relief efforts.

 

Muttaqi provided an update on the extent of the damage and casualties, thanking Iran’s government and people for their sympathy and the aid delivered by the Iranian Red Crescent.

 

According to Afghan officials, the death toll from the earthquake has risen to 2,205, with more than 3,640 injured.
