WANA (Dec 17) – The CEO of the Iran Intelligence House announced the opening of the country’s first specialized artificial intelligence (AI) center at Shahid Beheshti University today, saying that five AI and data science centers are planned to be launched at universities nationwide by next year.

The CEO of the Iran Intelligence House, Nafaei, said the newly established center aims to bridge academic education with the country’s practical and technological needs through the implementation of specialized AI projects.

The center operates with a research- and application-oriented approach, drawing on the expertise of university professors, students, specialized training programs, and AI mentors.

He noted that the Iran Intelligence House serves as the executive body of the center, which focuses on defining and carrying out applied and research-based projects, particularly large-scale and national initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.

As part of its support mechanisms, the center will provide research grants to professors and students at Shahid Beheshti University, along with essential infrastructure such as access to GPU resources. Specialized mentoring and training programs will also be offered when needed to strengthen practical engagement in AI research.

Nafaei added that discussions are underway with other universities, and several cooperation agreements are close to finalization. He said the establishment of five specialized AI and data science centers across the country by next year will create a national network of expertise in the field.

Shahid Beheshti University is hosting the country’s first AI and Data Science Center, named the Shahid Feghhi Center, which is expected to provide advanced scientific and technical services to researchers.

Established in cooperation with the Iran Intelligence House, the center is designed to support interdisciplinary research, develop applied technologies, and strengthen Iran’s national AI ecosystem.
