WANA (Aug 03) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan held a phone conversation to discuss the latest regional developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts, emphasizing the continuation of close cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region.

 

Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, spoke by phone on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

 

During the call, the two sides reviewed the latest regional and international developments as well as current diplomatic processes, stressing the need to maintain close consultations and cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad to help establish lasting peace and stability in the region.

 

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced in a statement that Ishaq Dar invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Islamabad at the earliest opportunity.

 

The statement did not provide details about the possible visit or its agenda, but the invitation comes as diplomatic consultations between Iran and Pakistan over regional issues have intensified.

 

The phone call also comes amid reports of new diplomatic activity between the two countries. Earlier, informed sources said that Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is expected to travel to Tehran in the coming days for discussions on issues related to efforts to revive talks between Iran and the United States.

 

The sources also said that, following exchanges of messages through intermediaries and efforts to resume direct negotiations based on the “Islamabad understanding,” new developments could emerge this week regarding the possible restart of talks.
