WANA (Sep 13) – The 29th session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Council was held on September 11–12, 2025, in Abu Dhabi.

 

The meeting brought together more than 400 participants from 169 member countries to discuss energy security, supply chain diversification, and global strategies for renewable energy development.

 

Iran’s representative at the summit emphasized the country’s commitment to clean energy, highlighting practical measures such as expanding solar and wind power capacity and implementing energy efficiency programs in both residential and industrial sectors.

 

These initiatives were presented as tangible evidence of Iran’s dedication to achieving a sustainable energy transition.

 

According to reports, Iran has, for the first time since IRENA’s founding, become a member of the agency’s council.

 

This membership reflects Iran’s growing role in global clean energy cooperation and underscores its national strategy for harnessing renewable resources.
