Iran Plans 2026–2027 Launch of the Martyr Soleimani Satellite Constellation
WANA (Feb 01) – Hassan Salarieh, Head of the Iranian Space Agency, in an interview explained the details of the “Martyr Soleimani Satellite Constellation” and the status of construction of the 24 satellites of this constellation.
He stated: The Martyr Soleimani constellation is a narrowband satellite constellation, the design and construction of which are being carried out by a consortium composed of the private sector and the public sector.
He said: So far, the initial prototypes of this constellation, which were sub-scale, have been designed, manufactured, and launched. Through these experimental launches, a major portion of the systems and technologies required for this constellation have been tested and functionally evaluated.
Announcing the unveiling of the first version of this satellite, Hassan Salarieh added: God willing, the first experimental prototype with real and original dimensions, size, and technical specifications will be unveiled this year during the Ten Days of Fajr (the annual ten-day period commemorating the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran) by the Honorable Minister of Information and Communications Technology.
The Head of the Iranian Space Agency emphasized: With this unveiling, the process of constructing the main models will officially begin. The procedure is such that after the experimental prototype is launched and placed into orbit, its performance is measured and receives final approval, after which the remaining satellites of the constellation—that is, the 24 satellites—will be produced based on this stabilized prototype.
Regarding the status of supplying components for these 24 satellites, he stated: The various subsystems of these 24 satellites have now been supplied, and their design processes have also been completed; moreover, a major portion of the tests of these subsystems has been successfully carried out.
Commenting on the operational timeline of this constellation, the Head of the Iranian Space Agency noted: According to the plans, the process of final integration and the commencement of the main launches of the Martyr Soleimani constellation will be realized in the Iranian year 1405 (2026–2027).
