Iran Plans Launch of Three Satellites This Winter
WANA (Nov 10) – The head of Iran’s Space Agency announced that three satellites—Zafar, Paya, and Kowsar—are scheduled for launch in early winter, with technical preparations currently underway.
Speaking at the “Space Technology for Sustainable Development” event in Tehran, The head of Iran’s Space Agency announced that three satellites, Hassan Salarieh, highlighted the growing role of satellite data services in sectors such as agriculture, water resources, environment, and meteorology.
He noted that these satellites will provide critical data for applications like crop monitoring, mineral exploration, and dust storm tracking.
Salarieh also said the agency is updating the country’s 10-year space program, which will serve as an official roadmap for government agencies, private companies, universities, and research institutions once approved by the Supreme Space Council and the president.
On infrastructure, he reported that the Almas and Kenaran space bases are nearing completion and will soon become operational. He also pointed to international cooperation with China on lunar projects and with ECO member states on satellite research, training, and data services.
The updated 10-year program aims to expand satellite-based services to support decision-making across agriculture, environment, crisis management, and other sectors.
