Iran Protests to UN Security Council Over UAE Cooperation
WANA (Mar 27) – Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has sent a formal letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the United Nations Security Council, protesting the United Arab Emirates’ cooperation in facilitating attacks against Iran.
In the letter, Iravani said the UAE has allowed its territory and airspace to be used by the United States and Israel for military operations targeting Iran.
He added that, based on assessments by Iran’s armed forces, attackers have continued using UAE territory and airspace to plan, prepare, equip, and carry out unlawful military strikes against the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian envoy also listed specific cases in support of these statements.
The letter stressed that, under international law, states bear responsibility if their territory is used for acts of aggression or armed attacks against another country.
Iran therefore expressed its “strong and unequivocal protest” and urged the UAE to adhere to principles of good neighborliness and prevent the continued use of its territory against Iran.
While reaffirming respect for the UAE’s sovereignty, Iravani said Iran reserves the right to take all necessary and appropriate measures, including exercising its inherent right of self-defense, to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.
