WANA (Oct 28) – According to an international study published in the prestigious Irrigation and Drainage journal—the official publication of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID)—Iran has secured second place globally in the development of irrigation and drainage sciences during the period 2010–2024.

The study shows that Iran, with 215 research articles, ranks second after China and ahead of India and the United States. Researchers from the University of Tehran played a significant role in achieving this distinction, contributing more than 62 scientific papers.

The research analyzed 1,517 papers published in Irrigation and Drainage over the past 15 years, revealing that Iran accounts for 14.2% of the journal’s total scientific output.

The strong presence of Iranian researchers—particularly those from the University of Tehran—in this 73-year-old official ICID journal highlights Iran’s growing global reputation in irrigation and drainage research.

Furthermore, based on this international evaluation, the University of Tehran has been recognized as the second leading research institution in the world for publications in Irrigation and Drainage.
