WANA (Aug 26) – The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Seyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, announced Iran’s readiness to eradicate terrorism and enhance security along the shared border with Pakistan.

In a phone conversation on Tuesday with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, General Mousavi expressed condolences for the recent flood damages in Pakistan, assuring that Iran’s armed forces are ready to provide all possible assistance to their Pakistani counterparts.

The Iranian general also highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan, describing them as a reflection of “brotherly ties,” particularly at the highest levels of leadership.

Addressing security concerns, General Mousavi emphasized that terrorist activities have recently increased on both sides of the border. He stated that Iran is prepared to cooperate fully with Pakistan to eliminate terrorism in the region and secure the common frontier.

He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support of Iran during the 12-day Sacred Defense period and urged practical joint actions against terrorist elements, noting that while some measures have been taken previously, further efforts are needed to compensate for past delays.

Responding to the call, Field Marshal Munir thanked General Mousavi for his condolences and extended sympathies over the death of Iranian law enforcement personnel in Sistan and Baluchestan.

He emphasized that both countries share the same vision for border security and stressed the need to transform the Iran-Pakistan border into a “border of friendship, brotherhood, and economic development,” pledging full cooperation to achieve this goal.
