Iran Received Messages via Mediators, Mohajerani Says
WANA (Nov 16) – Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said in an interview with Al-Mayadeen that the Islamic Republic has received messages through mediators. She emphasized that Iran makes no exceptions when it comes to defending its people, territorial integrity, and national sovereignty.
Mohajerani stated that strengthening Iran’s missile capabilities is a natural component of developing the country’s defense capacity, adding that Tehran is working to address weaknesses exposed during a recent attack. She warned that if the opposing side repeats its mistake, Iran’s response will be more severe than before.
She also underscored that Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is carried out within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and based on national interests and domestic laws.
Referring to the activation of the snapback mechanism by three European states, Mohajerani said Iran has announced that its relations with these countries will be restructured according to its own interests, and noted that signs of improved relations can already be seen with some European nations, including Germany.
Mohajerani stated that in the face of hegemonic approaches, Tehran prioritizes expanding relations with neighboring countries, cooperating with international institutions, and strengthening its domestic economy.
Addressing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, she noted that the participating parties are responsible for its implementation, and argued that resistance forces must maintain presence in a country located next to what she called “a fabricated entity.”
She said the Islamic Republic is taking steps toward enhancing relations with Persian Gulf states, and expressed Iran’s readiness to upgrade ties with all regional countries, provided that cooperation is built upon mutual understanding and respect.
Mohajerani voiced concern over what she described as Israel’s expansionist policies in the region, stating that Tehran is closely and continuously monitoring such developments.
She added that any country neighboring what she referred to as the “Zionist regime” must possess armed capabilities to defend its people.
Citing previous Israeli attacks on Iran, she said Tehran understands the necessity for Lebanon to possess arms, and noted that Iran is also closely monitoring U.S. activities related to Venezuela.
On relations with Russia, Mohajerani described Moscow as a neighboring country and confirmed bilateral cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy projects.
She concluded by noting that Iran maintains broad relations with Russia and China, highlighting their membership in BRICS and their position as regional partners.
