WANA (Jun 25) – The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society has expressed condolences following two powerful and deadly earthquakes measuring more than 7.0 magnitude that struck Venezuela, and announced Iran’s readiness to dispatch specialized rescue and medical teams to the affected areas.

 

In a message to the president of the Venezuelan Red Cross, Pirhossein Kolivand extended sympathy to the families of the victims and offered humanitarian assistance.

 

“We were deeply saddened to learn of the earthquakes in Venezuela, which have tragically claimed dozens of lives, injured hundreds of people, and caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure in the states of La Guaira, Carabobo, Miranda, Aragua, and Falcón, as well as in the cities of Caracas, Valencia, Maracay, and Morón,” Kolivand said in his message to Dr. Luis Manuel Farías Villanueva, president of the Venezuelan Red Cross.

 

“We are profoundly affected by this tragic disaster and the suffering it has inflicted on the people of Venezuela,” he added.

 

Kolivand stressed that the Iranian Red Crescent stands alongside the Venezuelan Red Cross during this difficult time and, while offering condolences to the bereaved families and those affected by the disaster, declared its full readiness to deploy rescue and medical teams to support relief efforts.

 

He also wished health, success, and resilience to the leadership and staff of the Venezuelan Red Cross in carrying out their humanitarian mission.

 

Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei expressed solidarity with the government and people of Venezuela following the earthquake and announced Tehran’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance for relief and rescue operations.

 

He said the Foreign Ministry had been monitoring developments through Iran’s embassy in Caracas since the first hours after the disaster and had conveyed Iran’s willingness to support Venezuela in dealing with the consequences of the earthquake.

 

Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, announced that at least 164 people have been killed and 971 others injured following a series of powerful earthquakes that struck the country.
