Iran Rejects Claims of Interference in Gaza Ceasefire Talks
WANA (Jul 29) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman dismissed the U.S. President’s allegation of Iranian involvement in Gaza ceasefire negotiations, stressing that while Tehran strongly condemns the genocide in Gaza, it supports any process that could halt atrocities and alleviate the suffering of the people.
Responding to a question regarding the U.S. President’s claim, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei categorically rejected the accusation, stating:
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, in unison with the majority of nations, strongly condemns the genocide in Gaza and supports any process that can lead to an end to the crimes and a reduction in the suffering of the oppressed people of Gaza.”
Baghaei underlined that Hamas negotiators themselves are fully capable of identifying and pursuing the best interests of the Palestinian people, with no need for third-party interference.
He described the allegation of Iranian involvement as “absolutely baseless,” adding that such claims amount to an attempt to deflect blame and evade accountability for Washington’s complicity in the crimes of the Zionist regime. He cited the killing of 60,000 innocent civilians, including women and children, the tightening of the blockade on Gaza in recent months, the prevention of humanitarian aid deliveries, and the killing of starving civilians trapped in so-called aid distribution centers established by an American company.
Baghaei advised U.S. officials that if they truly seek a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the protection of civilian lives, they must stop sending deadly weapons to the occupying regime, compel it to halt the genocide, and ensure the honorable delivery of humanitarian assistance through recognized international mechanisms.
