WANA (Dec 04) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has dismissed as baseless the allegations made in the final communiqué of the 46th Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) summit regarding the Iranian islands.

In a media statement, Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, expressed regret over the PGCC’s continued repetition of what he called the false and unfounded claims of the United Arab Emirates about the Iranian islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb.

He condemned the remarks in the summit’s final statement, stressing that the islands are “inseparable parts of Iran’s territorial sovereignty.”

He said that any territorial claims regarding these islands are “invalid, baseless, and in clear contradiction with the principles of respect for territorial integrity and good-neighborliness.”

Baghaei emphasized Iran’s effective, continuous, and undisputed sovereignty over the three islands “for centuries,” adding that repeating an unfounded claim does not alter historical or geographical realities and does not create any legal rights for the claimant.

Reaffirming Iran’s policy of good-neighborliness and cooperation to strengthen regional stability, the spokesman called on the UAE and the PGCC to refrain from adopting provocative positions that contradict neighborly relations.

Baghaei also reiterated Iran’s commitment to safeguarding its rights in the Arash gas field, rejecting unilateral claims as invalid. He said that issuing repetitive statements or making unilateral assertions “creates no legal rights for Kuwait,” and that reaching a fair and lasting agreement requires bilateral dialogue, joint efforts, and a constructive atmosphere that serves mutual interests.
