WANA (Apr 17) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister said Tehran opposes any temporary ceasefire and insists on a comprehensive end to hostilities across the region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Saeed Khatibzadeh told reporters that any ceasefire must cover all conflict zones “from Lebanon to the Red Sea,” describing this as a “red line” for Iran.

He stressed that “we do not accept any temporary ceasefire,” adding that the cycle of conflict must be brought to an end “once and for all” through a comprehensive solution.

Khatibzadeh also addressed the status of the Strait of Hormuz, saying the historic waterway has always remained open to maritime traffic. He noted that although the strait lies within Iran’s territorial waters, it has long been accessible for international shipping.
