Iran Reports Damage to 146 Private Schools Amid Conflict
WANA (Mar 30) – The Director-General of Non-Governmental Schools and Centers at Iran’s Ministry of Education said that 146 private schools across the country have been completely destroyed or severely damaged during the “Ramadan war.”
Reza Zini-Vand Moghaddam made the remarks on Monday during a visit to Lorestan province and inspections of damaged private schools in the city of Khorramabad.
He stated that based on collected data, several students and teachers in private schools have been killed, while parts of educational facilities have also suffered significant damage.
According to the official, 138 students and 32 teachers from private schools across the country were killed, while 146 private schools in various regions were either destroyed or heavily damaged. He added that several other educational centers have also experienced structural and equipment-related damage.
Zini-Vand Moghaddam said the ministry’s Non-Governmental Schools Department, in coordination with provincial education authorities and school development organizations, is continuing efforts to assess and document the extent of the damage based on a strategic council decision and directives from senior officials.
He added that, following completion of expert evaluations, financial and logistical support will be allocated for the repair or reconstruction of affected private schools.
He also noted that support and condolences programs for the families of deceased students and teachers will be carried out in coordination with provincial authorities.
