WANA (Feb 14) – The commander of border police in Sistan and Baluchestan Province announced the seizure of 48 vessels and the discovery of more than 72,000 liters of smuggled fuel in a series of maritime operations carried out by border patrol forces.

 

Brigadier General said that officers received intelligence regarding several vessels attempting to leave the country carrying smuggled goods and immediately launched operations to intercept them.

 

According to the provincial border commander, naval patrol units identified and seized 48 vessels transporting illicit fuel during separate operations conducted in regional waters.

 

He added that the operations resulted in the arrest of 99 suspected smugglers and the confiscation of 72,490 liters of smuggled fuel.

 

Shojaei stated that the estimated value of the seized fuel exceeds 62.38 billion rials (approximately $39,000 ). The confiscated cargo has been handed over to judicial authorities for legal proceedings after official case files were prepared.

 

The commander stressed that border patrol forces remain determined in safeguarding the country’s borders and combating smuggling activities, vowing that no illegal operations will be tolerated.
