Iran Responds to Statements by Israeli Foreign Minister in Baku
WANA (Jan 27) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Azerbaijan has strongly condemned recent remarks made by the Israeli foreign minister during his visit to Baku, describing them as interventionist, provocative, and detached from reality.
According to official sources, the Iranian Embassy’s press office stated that the actions and positions of the Israeli regime are part of a deliberate strategy aimed at undermining friendly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and fueling tension and instability in the region.
The statement highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties between the two neighboring countries and stressed the need for vigilance against divisive efforts by third parties.
The statement further noted that a regime with a long record of occupation, targeted assassinations, and widespread human rights violations lacks any legal or moral legitimacy to comment on the internal affairs of other nations.
It added that such claims are a desperate attempt to divert international public opinion away from growing global pressure over the regime’s alleged war crimes and human rights abuses.
The Iranian Embassy also expressed regret that a representative of what it described as a regime with a record of organized violence and the killing of civilians—particularly women and children—was given an official platform to level what it called baseless accusations against Iran.
At the same time, the statement reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening relations with Baku based on mutual respect and shared interests.
The reaction followed comments by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who on Monday, during meetings with Azerbaijani officials in Baku, made what Iranian officials described as interventionist remarks regarding Iran’s internal developments.
In a joint press statement with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Sa’ar called on the international community to pay attention to the situation in Iran and linked it to broader regional security concerns.
Iranian officials have rejected these remarks, viewing them as part of the Israeli regime’s ongoing efforts to negatively influence regional dynamics and bilateral relations among countries, and have categorically dismissed the allegations.
