Iran, Russia, and China Hold Coordination Meeting Ahead of IAEA Board Session
WANA (Nov 06) – Representatives from Iran, Russia, and China held a trilateral meeting in Vienna to coordinate their positions on Iran’s nuclear file ahead of the upcoming session of the IAEA Board of Governors.
Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, announced on the social media platform X: “Today, China, Iran, and Russia held another round of our traditional trilateral consultations on the Iranian nuclear issue. On the eve of the next Board of Governors meeting, we exchanged notes and coordinated our positions.”
The IAEA Board of Governors meeting is scheduled to take place from November 19 to 21 at the Vienna International Centre. It is expected that the session will review the Director General’s latest report on Iran’s nuclear activities and the state of technical and monitoring cooperation between Tehran and the Agency.
This trilateral meeting comes amid growing speculation over potential tensions at the Board, as Western members prepare to address Iran’s nuclear file while Moscow and Beijing reiterate their support for a diplomatic approach toward Tehran.
