Iran, Saudi Arabia and China Hold Trilateral Meeting in Tehran
WANA (Dec 09) – The third meeting of the Joint Trilateral Committee of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China is scheduled to take place today in Tehran.
The Iranian delegation is led by Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Political Deputy to Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. A preparatory session involving experts and diplomats from the three countries was held in Tehran on Monday ahead of the main meeting.
The trilateral talks are being convened to follow up on the implementation of the “Beijing Agreement,” which was signed in March 2023 with China acting as mediator between Tehran and Riyadh.

Under the Beijing-brokered deal, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to restore diplomatic relations that had been severed since 2016, reopen their embassies in each other’s capitals, and work toward improving political and economic cooperation.
The second session of the Joint Trilateral Committee was held in Riyadh in late November last year, also chaired on the Iranian side by Majid Takht-Ravanchi. During that meeting, Iranian and Saudi officials once again reaffirmed their commitment to the full implementation of the Beijing Agreement and to strengthening good-neighborly relations in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and international law — including respect for sovereignty, independence, and the security of states.
Iran and Saudi Arabia also welcomed China’s constructive and ongoing role in facilitating the agreement, and underscored the importance of Beijing’s continued support and follow-up in ensuring its successful implementation.
