WANA (Jul 22) – Iran’s Armed Forces announced that, during the 24th wave of Operation Nasr 2, they targeted Amazon’s central data infrastructure in Bahrain, describing it as one of the U.S. military’s key information exchange hubs in the region.

 

According to the report, Amazon Web Services’ Bahrain cloud region, identified as me-south-1, is the company’s first dedicated data processing hub in the Middle East. Launched in 2019, it serves as a major regional center for cloud computing and data management.

 

The report further described the Bahrain-based Amazon facility as a critical backbone of intelligence processing for the United States and its allies in the Persian Gulf, claiming it plays a central role in supporting Washington’s information and operational infrastructure.

 

It also noted that Amazon is one of the four primary contractors under the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) program, a $9 billion contract that enables the Pentagon to deploy cloud computing, data analytics, and artificial intelligence tools across operational theaters and regional military bases.
