Iran Says ‘No’ to U.S.–Israel Warnings
WANA (Jan 28) – Over the past two weeks, two significant messages were reportedly conveyed to Iran from the United States and Israel; both were rejected by Tehran, according to informed sources.
Washington had privately informed Tehran that it intended to carry out a limited strike and urged Iran to “absorb” the operation or respond only with symbolic measures. Iran refused, insisting that it had redefined its red lines and would consider any attack as the beginning of full-scale war.
At the same time, Israel sent a message through a regional intermediary, stating that it would not take part in any potential U.S. operation and requesting that Iran refrain from targeting Israel. Tehran declined the request and made it clear that if the United States initiated military action, Israel would come under attack as well.
In this context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned: “If Iran makes a mistake and attacks Israel, we will respond with power that Iran has never seen before.” When asked whether Israel would participate in a potential U.S. strike, he responded: “President Trump will make his decisions and we will make ours.”
Iran also sent parallel messages across the region—from Baku to Riyadh—declaring that any attack launched from the territory or airspace of regional states would trigger direct retaliation against them.
Regional analysts attribute the U.S. decision to postpone a planned military operation last Tuesday night to these warnings. The postponement, they argue, allowed Washington to deploy extensive offensive and defensive assets across the region with three primary objectives: deterrence, containing a potential Iranian response, and preparing for escalation scenarios.
