WANA (Apr 12) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said ongoing negotiations in Islamabad are being pursued as part of the country’s broader effort to defend its national interests, stressing that diplomacy remains aligned with Iran’s strategic objectives.

 

In a post on X, Esmail Baghaei stated that Iran has not forgotten past breaches of trust and hostile actions by the United States, adding that crimes committed by Washington and Israel during recent conflicts remain unforgiven.

 

He noted that the Iranian delegation has been engaged in intensive and extended talks in Pakistan’s capital since Saturday, with mediation efforts by Islamabad. According to Baghaei, discussions have continued without interruption, with multiple messages and draft texts exchanged between the parties. He emphasized that Iranian negotiators are utilizing all their expertise and experience to safeguard the country’s rights and interests.

 

Baghaei also highlighted that the loss of Iranian citizens and prominent figures has further strengthened the delegation’s resolve to firmly pursue national rights.

 

He underlined that no factor should hinder Iran from fulfilling its historic responsibility toward protecting national interests and its civilizational identity, adding that Tehran remains committed to using all available tools, including diplomacy, to achieve these goals.

 

The spokesperson said that over the past 24 hours, negotiations have covered key issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear file, war reparations, sanctions relief, and a complete end to the war against Iran and in the region.

 

Baghaei concluded that the success of the diplomatic process depends on the seriousness and goodwill of the other side, as well as avoiding excessive and unlawful demands, and recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights. He also expressed appreciation to the government and people of Pakistan for hosting the talks and facilitating the mediation process.
