WANA (May 16) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has accused the United States of being a “direct accomplice and definite partner” in what it described as Israel’s “genocide of Palestinians,” while reaffirming what Tehran called the Palestinian people’s right to resist occupation.

In a statement released Friday to mark Nakba Day, the ministry described the establishment of Israel 78 years ago as “the most devastating human and moral tragedy of the contemporary era,” arguing that its consequences continue to affect both West Asia and the wider world.

The statement said Nakba Day serves as a reminder of what it called a “plot by the enemies of humanity against Palestine,” claiming that the event led to the “permanent destabilization of the region” and the normalization of “lawlessness and crime.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry also accused Israel of committing “the most brutal violations of international law” over the past eight decades, alleging that such actions were carried out with the support of the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, and several European countries.

Referring to the war in Gaza, the statement described the conflict as a new phase in what it called the “colonial elimination project against Palestine,” and claimed that Israel, using weapons supplied by the United States and its Western allies, is carrying out a “merciless genocide” against Palestinians.

The ministry further stated that Israel’s actions amount to “war crimes,” “crimes against humanity,” and “genocide,” adding that international courts have sought to prosecute Israeli officials. However, Tehran argued that U.S. pressure on international judicial bodies has obstructed the implementation of justice.

“Therefore, the ruling establishment in the United States is considered a direct accomplice and definite partner in the genocide of Palestinians,” the statement said.

Iran also strongly condemned Israeli actions and rejected any proposal involving the “forced displacement” of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank.

The statement reiterated Tehran’s long-standing position in support of what it called the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to resist occupation, the right of return for Palestinian refugees, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Iran added that it believes the continuation of Palestinian resistance and the awakening of global public conscience will ultimately lead to the “full liberation of Palestine” and the realization of the Palestinian people’s historical rights.
