WANA (May 29) – The Iranian Cadet Greco-Roman Wrestling Team has mathematically clinched the Asian Championship title before the final day of competition completely concludes.

 

The Cadet Asian Championships continued today (Friday, May 29) in Vietnam with bouts featuring the final three weight classes. Following a dominant showing across the board, Iran’s point lead has made its overall championship victory absolute.

 

In today’s action, Esmail Zaherdoost secured a spot in the finals of the 71 kg weight class. Meanwhile, Hamed Dehghanzadeh (65 kg) and Mehdi Gholami (80 kg) successfully advanced to the bronze-medal repechage rounds.

 

Prior to today’s matches, the powerhouse Iranian squad had already captured 6 gold medals.

 

With those gold medals locked in and all three of today’s remaining Iranian representatives advancing to medal matches, the Greco-Roman team has comfortably mathematically locked up the overall Asian Championship trophy ahead of schedule.
