WANA (Jun 14) – Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, has warned that “the response of the fighters of Islam is forthcoming” following an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, stressing that the Islamic Republic will not tolerate the crossing of its red lines.

 

In a post on X on Sunday evening, Zolghadr reacted to the latest developments in Lebanon by declaring that “the response of the fighters of Islam is forthcoming.” He added that the “unity of the fronts” has created a security chain aimed at defending the region.

 

The senior Iranian official further emphasized Lebanon’s importance to Iran, stating that “Lebanon is part of our very being,” and warned that violations of the Islamic Republic’s red lines would not go unanswered.

 

His remarks came after Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburb, commonly known as Dahiyeh, on Sunday. The Israeli military claimed that the attack targeted Hezbollah-related sites.

 

Lebanon’s Civil Defense Organization reported that at least three people were killed and six others injured in the strike. Emergency and firefighting teams were deployed immediately after the attack, launching search-and-rescue operations and transferring the wounded to medical facilities.

 

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also condemned the Israeli attack, accusing the United States of either lacking the will or the ability to fulfill its commitments.

 

In a separate post on X, Ghalibaf said the latest Israeli strike demonstrated that Washington either has no intention of enforcing its obligations or lacks the capacity to do so. He further argued that the long-standing “good cop, bad cop” approach had lost its effectiveness, adding that it would be impossible to speak of continuing any diplomatic path if commitments were not honored.

 

The attack on Beirut’s southern suburb comes amid heightened regional tensions between Israel and the Axis of Resistance. The statements from senior Iranian officials underscore Tehran’s continued sensitivity to developments in Lebanon and its view of the country’s security as closely linked to broader regional stability.
