Iran Security Official to US: Bow to Iranian Power
WANA (May 29) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ebrahim Rezaei, has fiercely defended Iran’s maritime authority over the Strait of Hormuz, warning U.S. officials that any military attempts to challenge Tehran’s control will face decisive resistance.
In a statement published on social media, Rezaei asserted that Iran’s sovereign administration of the strategic choke point is an internationally recognized reality.
“Iranian management of the Strait of Hormuz has been firmly established worldwide,” Rezaei stated. “For this very reason, countries seek permission, pay dues, and navigate their vessels under the guidance of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy.”
The spokesperson took direct aim at U.S. leadership, specifically criticizing Donald Trump and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent amid escalating Western economic and military pressures in the region.
Rezaei mocked previous American maritime deployments in the Persian Gulf, claiming that Washington’s efforts to bypass Iranian oversight have repeatedly failed. “The only one who has not believed this, or refuses to believe it, is Trump,” Rezaei wrote. “Every now and then, he sends his military to open the Strait, but they show up, take a beating, and head back.”
Concluding his remarks with a direct warning to the U.S. Treasury Chief, the senior security official stated that Washington must accept the reality of Iran’s regional leverage. “Mr. Bessent! Instead of all this bluster, you should think about bowing to Iranian power in the Persian Gulf.”
