WANA (Jun 23) – The Head of the Army’s Strategic Studies and Research Center, Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan, pointed out in an interview that Iran’s military doctrine has shifted from a purely defensive stance to an offensive-defensive doctrine.

 

He emphasized that preemptive operations have also been defined within the offensive doctrine, stating that if the expediency of the system requires it, it is possible to severely surprise the enemy by conducting preemptive operations in unknown arenas.

 

He added that the armed forces have not yet operationalized a significant portion of their capabilities, and the enemy knows that in the event of committing any mistake, it will face a response beyond the borders and the Strait of Hormuz.

 

Analyzing recent battles, specifically the 12-day and 40-day wars, Pourdastan stated that the Islamic Republic and the resistance front have successfully left behind a completely unequal war against a coalition of “Hebrew, Western, and Arabic” forces led by the United States.

 

The Head of the Army’s Strategic Studies and Research Center regarded the enemy’s request for a ceasefire in these battles as the most important sign of victory, noting that in the history of wars, it is always the side facing defeat that requests a ceasefire.

 

He added that the steadfastness of Iranian fighters despite 46 years of all-encompassing sanctions has resulted in the enemy’s desperation, noting that the recent rhetoric of American officials stems not from power, but from this very desperation and the positioning of the world on the historic precipice of American decline.

 

Iranian Readiness Regarding Developments in Lebanon

In another part of his remarks, Pourdastan referred to developments in Lebanon, announcing Iran’s full readiness to defend the Lebanese people.

 

He clarified that in the recent one-month period, Iran was on the verge of entering a full-scale war with the Israeli regime, with launchers prepared and fingers on the trigger to start the war if Israel failed to retreat.

 

According to the Head of the Army’s Strategic Studies and Research Center, Iran’s decisive threats forced the United States to pressure the Israeli regime to halt its aggression against southern Lebanon to prevent the expansion of the war.

 

Responses to Foreign Rhetoric and Military Unity

Concluding his remarks, Pourdastan referred to the rhetoric of figures like Trump, stating that responding to such political remarks is the duty of diplomats. However, he emphasized that the armed forces, by closely monitoring field realities, have prepared proportionate and operational responses.

 

He further described the main strength of the country’s deterrence as the unbreakable unity between the Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), adding that the empathy established since 1981 has culminated today in the formation of a single, cohesive, and powerful force.

 

He concluded that with its long reach, this unified force is capable of neutralizing any threat in any geography and making the enemy regret its actions.
