Iran Shines with Two Gold on Final Day of Para-Athletics Championships
WANA (Oct 05) – Iranian athletes clinched two gold medals on the final day of the World Para-Athletics Championships.
On Sunday afternoon, the men’s F34 shot put event took place in India, featuring Iran’s national athlete Mehran Nikoee Majd alongside competitors from Colombia (two athletes), Lithuania, Turkey, Qatar, China, Jordan, Russia, and the Czech Republic.
The 43-year-old Iranian, who previously won two silver medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships and returned after serving a four-year suspension last year, set a new world record with a throw of 12.27 meters, securing the gold medal.
In addition, in the men’s F41 javelin event, Iran’s Sadegh Beit-Siyah claimed gold with a throw of 48.86 meters, finishing first in the competition.
With these victories, Iran’s medal tally at the championships rose to 15.
