WANA (Mar 26) – Informed sources have indicated that Iran is prepared to respond to any strategic miscalculation by the United States or Israel, with key energy and infrastructure sites in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait reportedly under consideration as potential targets.

According to these sources, shared oil fields between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia—including Wafra and Burgan—as well as major power plants such as Az-Zour and Shuabia, could be included in a list of retaliatory options in the event of hostile action.

Officials familiar with Iran’s strategic planning say the country is actively reviewing its options in response to possible external threats. Should any action by the United States or Israel directly threaten Iran’s national security, critical facilities and strategic infrastructure located in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait may be placed on the operational agenda.

Available information suggests that several of these sites are located in the southern Persian Gulf’s shared oil and energy zones, areas considered economically and strategically vital to the countries involved.

Among them are the Wafra and Burgan oil fields, the Az-Zour and Shuabia power plants, and other facilities identified in operational maps within the Onshore Partitioned Zone—some of which are managed by joint ventures involving Kuwaiti and Saudi oil companies, including KGOC and Chevron.

Experts warn that any escalation could pose a serious challenge to the region’s already fragile stability. At the same time, Iranian officials have consistently emphasized a responsible approach toward regional security, stating that any retaliatory measures would be directed solely at aggressor states and their supporters, while safeguarding the interests of neighboring and friendly countries.
