Iran Sought Dialogue, Aggressors Chose War
WANA (Jul 30) – The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, referring to the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran, said: “Iran was present at the negotiation table and committed to dialogue, but it was the aggressors who overturned the table and chose another path. In response to this aggression, Iran resolutely defended its land and people.”
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, said this afternoon, Wednesday, at the Sixth Conference of Speakers of World Parliaments in Geneva: “Today, we have gathered in Geneva to talk about the issue of multilateralism for peace and justice, while this ideal is being deliberately and continuously weakened, and the credibility of international institutions is declining.”
He added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran was recently the target of blatant military aggression by the Zionist regime — an attack carried out with the support and cooperation of the United States. In these attacks, about 1,100 Iranian citizens were martyred.”
The Speaker of the Parliament stated: “This aggression did not happen following the failure of diplomacy, but exactly in the middle of political negotiations. Iran was present at the negotiation table and committed to dialogue, but it was the aggressors who overturned the table and chose another path. In response to this aggression, Iran resolutely defended its land and people.”

The Speaker of the Parliament said: “The aggressive act of the Zionist regime, which was a deliberate violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, was condemned by 120 countries of the world, but the few, yet bullying supporters of the Zionists prevented international assemblies from taking decisive action to punish criminal Israel. Do you know what the consequences of the Zionist regime’s impunity will be?”
Ghalibaf added: “Institutions that should be the guardians of peace have remained silent in the face of aggression and occupation. Mechanisms that should guarantee justice have, in practice, accused the victims and protected the aggressors. Structures that should be impartial and independent have often become tools of political exploitation by specific powers.”
Gaza is the Center for Testing Human Conscience
The Speaker of Parliament stated: “The Zionists use hunger and famine as weapons of mass destruction. Today, Gaza is a museum of crimes against humanity and a laboratory for testing killing technologies; today, Gaza is a place where the right to live is punished with bullets and famine.”
He added: “Gaza is not just a point on the map, but the center for testing human conscience. One must not be a spectator in the face of the genocide in Gaza; rather, before it is too late, we must stop the Nazis of the 21st century.”
The Full Speech Text of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly is as Follows:
“In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful”
Honorable Presidents of Parliaments,
Ladies and Gentlemen;
“Today, we have gathered in Geneva to discuss the subject of multilateralism for peace and justice, while these ideals are being deliberately and continuously weakened, and the credibility of international institutions is declining.
The Islamic Republic of Iran was recently the target of blatant military aggression by the Zionist regime—an attack carried out with the support and accompaniment of the United States. In these attacks, approximately one thousand and one hundred Iranian citizens, including fourteen prominent scientists and dozens of women and children, were martyred, and thousands of others were injured.
In these attacks, our peaceful nuclear facilities—which were regularly under supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency—were targeted. The Agency did not even agree to condemn this illegal act, thereby legitimizing the attack and putting an end to non-proliferation policies.
This aggression did not occur following the failure of the diplomatic process, but rather precisely in the middle of political negotiations. Iran was present at the negotiating table and committed to dialogue, but it was the aggressors who overturned the table and chose the path of confrontation.
In response to this aggression, Iran resolutely defended its land and people. Our nation—resilient, united, and proud—stood firm, and everyone saw that Iran delivered a devastating response to the Zionist regime; the skies of the occupied territories were crossed, and the aggressors were forced to request a ceasefire.
The Zionist regime’s aggressive act—which was a deliberate violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations—was condemned by one hundred and twenty countries of the world, but the Zionists’ few, yet bullying, supporters prevented international forums from taking decisive action to punish criminal Israel. Do you know what the consequences of impunity for the Zionist regime will be?
The impunity of such aggressions not only questions the legitimacy of the international system but also sends a dangerous message for global peace and gives the aggressor motivation to expand its crimes.
Institutions that are supposed to protect peace have remained silent in the face of aggression and occupation. Mechanisms that should ensure justice effectively accuse the victims and shield the aggressors, and structures that should be impartial and independent have often become tools of political exploitation by certain powers.
Today, that same destructive force continues its devastation and aggression. In Gaza, over sixty thousand Palestinians have lost their lives due to the genocide of the Zionists. In Lebanon and Syria as well, the Zionist regime’s airstrikes continue, displacing families and targeting infrastructure. Just in the past month, over six hundred people—mostly women and children—were killed while waiting in line for food.
The Zionists are using hunger and famine as weapons of mass destruction. The dissemination of images of Gaza’s starving children is a global disgrace.
Gaza today is a museum of crimes against humanity and a testing lab for killing technologies; Gaza today is a place where the right to live is punished by bullets and famine—because, according to the defense minister of the apartheid regime of Israel, they consider the Palestinian people as “human-like animals” who should not be allowed access to any food or water.
Gaza is not just a point on the map, but the center of a test of the human conscience. One must not be a spectator in the face of the genocide in Gaza; rather, before it is too late, we must stop the Nazis of the twenty-first century.
Thank you for your attention.”
