Iran Stresses Right to Self-Defense, Calls for Regional Stability Without Foreign Interference
WANA (Mar 10) – Iran’s Foreign Minister said Tehran remains committed to maintaining friendly relations with regional countries and supporting collective regional efforts to ensure stability and security without foreign interference.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a phone conversation on Tuesday with Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Foreign Minister, to discuss recent regional developments following attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.
During the conversation, Araghchi referred to the full readiness of Iran’s armed forces to exercise the country’s right to self-defense and to respond firmly to what he described as attacks and crimes by the United States and Israel. He stressed that Iran’s strikes on U.S. bases and assets in the region were carried out within the framework of the right to self-defense and in response to aggression.
At the same time, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized that the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy is based on the principle of good neighborliness. He said Iran seeks to maintain friendly and brotherly relations with countries in the region and supports regional cooperation aimed at ensuring stability and security without foreign intervention.
For his part, Egypt’s foreign minister expressed deep concern over the rising tensions in the region following the recent developments. Abdelatty underscored Cairo’s efforts to help reduce tensions through diplomatic channels and regional dialogue.
