WANA (Aug 13) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued an official statement strongly condemning remarks by Israeli officials asserting permanent control over the Syrian Golan Heights and denying an independent Palestinian state.

 

In its statement, Tehran rejected Israel’s claims over Palestinian territories, emphasizing that the Palestinian land belongs strictly to its people.

 

It further asserted that the occupied Golan Heights remain an integral part of Syria and that no occupation can alter the legal and historical reality of the region.

 

The ministry also firmly rejected and condemned Colombia’s recent decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.

 

Tehran described Bogota’s move as a clear violation of fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the principle of respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

Addressing the international community, Iran urged all governments—particularly Islamic nations—to fulfill their legal, moral, and humanitarian obligations to support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to end what it called the occupying regime’s aggression and apartheid.

 

The statement underscored that Western support—specifically from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Canada—serves as the primary driver of Israeli impunity and regional instability.

 

Reaffirming its principled stance, Iran voiced continued support for the Palestinian struggle for liberation, the return of refugees, and the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
