WANA (Jun 03) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned the U.S. military’s attack on an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and a telecommunications tower on Qeshm Island.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the attacks were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, from the territory of two regional countries. The Ministry described the actions as a clear violation of the ceasefire understanding reached on April 8, as well as a blatant breach of the fundamental principle prohibiting the use of force under Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and international law.

The statement also denounced what it called the United States’ exploitation of the territory and facilities of regional states to advance hostile operations against Iran. It specifically underscored the direct responsibility of the governments of Kuwait and Bahrain in connection with the attacks carried out the previous night.

The Ministry further stressed that any state allowing aggressors to use its land, territorial waters, airspace, military bases, or other facilities to conduct or support military actions against Iran is in clear violation of the core principles of international law and good-neighborly relations. It added that, under United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3314, such conduct constitutes participation in an act of aggression against Iran.

Reaffirming Iran’s inherent right to self-defense, the Ministry stated that the Islamic Republic will employ all available means to safeguard its territorial integrity and national sovereignty. This includes taking action against the origins and sources of any attacks directed at Iran.

The statement concluded by holding the United States, the Israeli regime, and all parties that facilitate or support such hostile actions fully responsible for any consequences arising from the current situation.
