WANA (Feb 04) – Iran’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, citing the developer of the Kosar satellite, announced the successful testing of the satellite’s Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities.

Hossein Shahrabi, the designer of the Kosar satellite, said that upgraded prototype IoT services of the satellite have been successfully tested, adding that the project is now ready to produce 2,000 ground terminals.

Shahrabi noted that the global space industry market is currently valued at around $400 billion. He added that while this figure has not changed significantly over the past decade, the growing convergence of space-based internet services with terrestrial internet is reshaping market dynamics.

According to him, space communications—previously focused mainly on broadcasting—are now entering the vast terrestrial telecommunications market, which is valued at nearly $2 trillion.
