Iran, Turkey FMs Hold Talks on Regional Security
WANA (Mar 23) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss regional developments and the repercussions of the illegal war by the United States and Israel on regional and global security.
During the call, Araghchi detailed the crimes committed by the aggressors against the Iranian people, particularly attacks on schools, hospitals, and residential areas.
He emphasized Iran’s firm resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Araghchi stated that Iran’s actions targeting military bases and facilities of the aggressors in regional countries are a legitimate exercise of its inherent right to self-defense.
He expressed regret that the territories of Muslim countries in the region are being exploited by the U.S. and Israel for attacks against Iran.
Araghchi also highlighted the consequences of U.S. and Israeli military aggression for regional security, stability, and maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the imposed insecurity in the strait is a direct result of these aggressions.
He stressed that both regional and global actors must hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes.
Minister Fidan underlined the consequences of the ongoing war in the region and, referring to his recent consultations with regional officials, emphasized the importance of efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen relations between Iran and neighboring countries
