WANA (Sep 03) – The military confrontation between Iran and the United States continued on Wednesday, with both sides carrying out further attacks. According to the assessment provided, the United States struck 34 targets across seven Iranian provinces, with a total of 96 reported strikes, while Iran attacked around 100 targets in seven countries.

According to the assessment, weakening Iran’s ability to control the Strait of Hormuz was one of the main objectives of the U.S. military campaign. The strait is one of the region’s most strategically important waterways due to its critical role in global energy shipments.

In response, Iran targeted three large oil tankers described as violating restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, seeking to demonstrate that its operational capabilities and ability to control maritime traffic through the strategic waterway remain intact.

The confrontation also saw a shift in Iran’s operational approach. According to the assessment, Tehran adopted a strategy focused on inflicting unexpected casualties, targeting U.S. positions and military bases in Jordan and Kuwait and reportedly causing significant human losses among American forces in the two countries.

Taken together, the developments indicate that on Wednesday, alongside direct attacks on military targets, the Strait of Hormuz and the two sides’ ability to maintain or disrupt the regional balance of power remained at the center of the confrontation between Iran and the United States.
