WANA (Apr 11) – Following intensive consultations in Islamabad, negotiations have officially commenced between the Iranian and American delegations to finalize key regional and financial issues.

Progress on Ceasefire and Assets

The start of these technical and expert-level talks follows progress in the implementation of the ceasefire—noted by the restriction of Israeli attacks from Beirut to southern Lebanese regions—and the U.S. acceptance of the release of frozen Iranian assets. These developments necessitated more detailed discussions to finalize the agreements.

Status of the Lebanon Ceasefire

Iran maintains that the ceasefire in Lebanon has not yet been fully realized and asserts that the United States is obligated to compel Israel to fulfill this commitment. The Iranian delegation is actively pursuing this matter through Pakistani mediators and within the negotiation chambers.

Atmosphere of Mistrust

The Iranian delegation has entered this round of Pakistan-mediated talks while expressing explicit pessimism toward the opposing side. Citing a history of U.S. breaches of commitment in previous negotiations, the Iranian team remains cautious as they engage in this diplomatic process.
