WANA (Mar 22) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has called on the United States and Israel to compensate for damages caused by recent attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary-General and members of the United Nations Security Council, Araghchi described the strikes as a “clear violation” of international law and urged immediate action from the council.

He stated that attacks targeting Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in Natanz and near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant breach the United Nations Charter, the statutes of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and fundamental principles of international law.

Araghchi warned that striking nuclear sites could lead to the widespread release of radioactive materials, posing serious risks to civilians and the environment.

The Iranian foreign minister described the attacks as acts of war crimes and aggression against international peace, calling for condemnation of those responsible, an immediate halt to further strikes, and full reparations.

He also urged the Security Council to compel Israel to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and place its nuclear facilities under IAEA supervision.
